(Yoakum, TX) Waitress/aspiring actress Tanya Diaz and daughter Trisha have landed roles as extras in the Star Trek fan film "Star Trek: The Hands of Doom". Set to begin shooting this fall "Doom" was written by local filmmakers Mark Ramirez and Chris Webber who were quick to point out that their film is based on the original series and not the current blockbuster feature. "People keep saying we're ripping off the last Trek film, but we didn't even watch the new one." said Ramirez.
"Yeah, it was total bullsh*t! No where nears how Kirk really rose to power!" points out Webber.
When asked how she felt when she got the news that she and her daughter had both made the cut, Tanya responded "Well, to be honest, I was hoping to get a part where I'd get me some lines, but they'd done filled all them parts. I was also hoping they'd have a part where Trisha could do some break dancing. She's been taking hip-hop lessons down at the "Y" for about 4 months now and she's real good, not as good as the other kids, but better than I thought she'd be. But they said there wasn't no dancing scenes in the movie."
"Then me and my boyfriend Rick wrote a rap song for the movie, and Me and Trisha rapped it for the director but he didn't think it would fit in the movie. I told him he was making a mistake. Kids like rap music and that'd make more people want to watch the movie. But he said my character didn't have no lines, and that Trisha was playing a Vulcan and Vulcans don't do no dancin' or rappin'. I don't know what the hell a Vulcan is, but I'm glad I ain't playin' one. Trisha has to put on some sorta elf ears, and when she come out of the bathroom with them on this morning Rick said to her 'What you doing Trisha, you going to be a hooker down in middle earth?' we laughed so hard Rick messed hisself. Trisha ran out of the trailer crying, but she'll be back."
"I just hope somebody in Hollywood'll see this movie so's me and Rick can finally make it to the big time. Rick's been playing in his bands and I been volunteering over at the high school with the drama teacher. We're just waiting for the right person to see what we can do. I know one day we'll be rich and famous, but I worry about how Trisha will handle all the success. I don't want to raise me no spoiled little rich girl." Looking out the window she continues "I wonder where that girl is? Her Daddy's going to be here to pick her up in a couple of hours. I hope she didn't run away again. Last time she did I had to spend my whole Friday night looking for her. And I ain't gonna do that tonight. Rick asked me to sing backup tonight with is new band 'Whiskey Sour' over at Harley's Cafe."
